Track your app

Type your app's name into the search box on /aso and pick it from the live App Store matches. That is the whole setup. The panda starts collecting straight away.

Adding an app

1. Open /aso.
2. Type at least two characters of the app's name. Matches appear as you type, straight from the US App Store: icon, name, developer, rating count and category.
3. Set the toggle in the field to My app or Competitor before you pick. It defaults to My app while you have none of your own, and to Competitor afterwards.
4. Click a match, or use the arrow keys and press Enter on the highlighted row. Escape closes the list.

You land on that app's case file, and a refresh is requested for it immediately. The first run seeds from the app's name: the full title, then two-word windows inside it.

The typeahead returns up to ten matches. It is paced at 20 searches a minute per account; past that it returns a rate-limit error until the minute rolls over.

If the store has no app under that id, adding fails with Apple has no app with that id.

My app or competitor

The role is a label on the tracked app, and it decides which group the app sits in on the board and which case-file tag its page carries. Both roles collect exactly the same data. Change your mind by removing the app and adding it again.

Watching keywords

The panda finds keywords on its own by widening around the app's title. Watching a keyword is how you insist on one it has not found, or one the app does not rank for yet.

There are three ways in:

• + Watch a keyword in the keyword table toolbar. Type one keyword, or several separated by commas or newlines, and submit.
• Watch on any row in the keyword table.
• Watch on any row in Ideas to try.

Watched keywords carry a small green dot in the table and are collected on every refresh whether or not the app ranks for them. Unwatched keywords appear only while a collected search still has the app in it.

Keywords are normalised before they are stored: trimmed, lower-cased, and squeezed to single spaces. Adding keywords also requests a refresh so the new ones get collected.

Unwatch removes the keyword from your watch list. It does not delete the collected snapshots, so the keyword can still appear as a discovered row.

You can watch up to 100 keywords per app. A batch that would cross that ceiling is rejected whole.

Removing an app

Stop tracking sits in the app header. It asks for confirmation and warns you that the app's tracked keywords go with it. You return to the board.

Removing an app frees a slot against the 25-app limit.
